There is an interesting article in ARTnews that all budding digital artists should read. The article discussed some of the following problems with the technology infrastructure for NFTs:

  • Artists may not get their royalties when an art piece is minted on the NFT platform and moved to another platform for sale—for example, minting an NFT on NiftyGate and selling the artwork on OpenSea. There is currently no centralized standard in minting artwork on the blockchain.

  • Another big problem is for a hacker to forge an NFT through the wallet of a digital artist and then transfer the artwork onto their wallet. A hacker did this to none other than Beeple.

  • Minting artwork on a blockchain is not proof enough for an artist to hold their copyright.

These are some of the significant issues that surround NFTs. Before you dive into minting your artwork on these NFT platforms, do some investigating to learn more about these issues.
